Diving Deeper

from all the times I’ve asked on a podcast the question to high achievers “do you know why you’re that way?” I found that 1/10 gave me a coherent answer. Most never introspected that far into their own selves, which is worrying.

introspection, aka understanding the why, helps you perform better. it makes you more flexible. I feel most are too afraid to dive in their pasts, making them rigid.

It’s not that understanding the why will bring your technical insights / IQ points, but connecting the dots in itself always leads to higher EQ. understanding emotions pays off nice.

psychology-first founders/CEOs are the one that scale high. they adapt and grow quicker.

taking off your blinders and realizing that your parents pushed an agenda on you may also have you take a turn before a midlife crisis.

lots of the folks I speak to overachieved and sit in this fancy place, while unable to enjoy themselves vs. folks in Mexico smiling next to their elote stand on 300 pesos/day.

go deep, understand your why, take the time to do so. life will be more whole. you’ll also be the leader your team deserve, and if/once you’ll be on top, you’ll do mass good instead of playing the “I deserve this” playbook.
