Hiking in the Oaxaca Mountains (San Felipe Del Agua)
Went hiking this weekend. I camped. To someplace we shouldn’t have camped, apparently.
We camped in this abandoned brick house. I didn’t know if it was the narcs or the government’s. Kind of the same in Mx, sometimes.
It was me, my wife and her cousin (and our friend), Jon.
It was a 3-hour hike up. Advanced stuff. After being blocked in the circulation for like 30 mins, we finally arrived at the hike site around 4:30pm.
That’d mean we’d climb in the dark.
I’d hike up with 8L of water in my bag + the tent in 1 hand, the inflatable mattress in the other. All neatly packed up in 2 boxes.
Carrying this to the top was around 8.5/10 difficulty. Lesson 1: the more pain you feel, the more glorious the rest will be.
We finally arrived at the top 3 hours later. I was hallucinating for the last 20 minutes, in the dark, hallucinating that we finally arrived to the top.
It’s around a 5 km hike. Around 90% of the uphill is 45% inclination. The last 30 minutes are treacherous.
So we arrived, and we begin unpacking. We first set the tent, then the mattress, then make food.
We brought all kinds of food, shity camper food like chocolate, chips, marshmallows, sausages, etc. So we eat like kings/queens.
Me and wife go to sleep around 10:00pm. It’s pitch dark in the area, the only light is…
