Spartan Race CDMX 2025: 55km, Pain, 4th Place, and Getting Humbled

Just wrapped up my third Spartan Ultra last weekend — second time doing the CDMX Honor Series. Booked it three weeks ago as a “light” training session for my upcoming 110km UTMB Paraty in Brazil. Thought it’d be a walk in the park. It wasn’t. Let’s dive in.

Last-Minute Chaos

It was a mess from the start. Realized right before leaving my Airbnb that I didn’t have my hydration vest — which is mandatory gear. The Salomon 12L was in the mail and didn’t arrive in time. My backup? Buried somewhere in the house. Screw it. I said I’d run it Ghetto Goggins style: no vest, just 4 gels, my new Speedgoat GTXs, a hat, and Oakley Prizm shades.

Good idea… until I stepped out into 5:00am CDMX cold. No phone, no extra food, no sunscreen. Just a QR code on my watch and a brain trying to hold things together. But hey, life and business have been intense lately — averaging 15–30 leads/day while prepping for a 110km beast. You can’t always nail strategy.
