My 3 Day Dark Room Retreat Review in Mazunte, Mexico

Last weekend, I went on an interesting journey. I’d spend 3 days locked up in a 2×3 meters room down in Mazunte, Mexico. Willingly.

Why? Well, it all started as I listen to Aubrey Markus’ review of his experience on a 7-day silent retreat trip. Damn, that’s long.

The cool thing is that day 6, your brain apparently starts secreting DMT. You basically hallucinate all the time, for a while. Alone in a dark room. Isn’t this the definition of insanity, though?

I’d start with 3 days. My experience with meditation so far is 10–20mins/day since 7 years. One 3 day silent meditation retreat done, one 10 day silent meditation retreat recently done. Plenty of trips in between. Psychedelics, though endurance events, you name it. I’ve gone through it.

So I went in with the mindset that this would be a breeze. And it was. I learned a lot from it.

This is my short story recounting interesting moments, the benefits of such a retreat, and what it can mean for you.

So after a 7-hour trip from Oaxaca to Mazunte, I arrived.

I unpacked my stuff. Paid the fees. It’s cheap. It was like 150usd for 3 days + 50usd for food. 30$ for transport back and forth. That’s it.
